Our Approach to Helping Families

At the Breeden Law Office, our philosophy is to prioritize a family’s needs and give our clients the help they need to help themselves. We offer comprehensive legal advice to help our clients move towards stability.

01 / 04

Your Initial Consultation

At your first meeting, you will discuss your situation with an experienced family attorney. We will review your circumstances, what you hope to accomplish, and what success means. From there, we’ll create a unique plan for you.

Consultations are easy, convenient, and may be the first step in your family’s new, better life.

Jonathan Breeden has over 25 years of experience and is a fixture in the area’s local family courts, handling domestic cases in Raleigh, Harnett County, and Johnston County.

02 / 04

Start Collecting Documents

This meeting can happen after you’ve decided on your course of action — we’ve outlined your goals, now we need to set us up for success. Before we can file any documents with the court, we need supporting documents that will help your claim in court.

The documents you need depend upon your unique situation. Some cases may require similar documents, but one of our family law attorneys can ensure they explain which ones you need.

Once you have your documents, you can file a motion to start your family law case.

03 / 04

File Your Motion in Family Law Court

Once you have gathered the necessary documents, our attorneys will help you fill out the correct forms and file them with the proper family court. The rest of your case depends on the outcome you’re seeking, but never fear — we will be with you every step of the way.

You might need to wait for an answer from your soon-to-be-ex in a divorce case, or from the court to discuss scheduling your hearing to modify child custody. No matter what, our team will be answering your questions and monitoring developments as your case continues.

04 / 04

Settlement Negotiations, Hearings & Trials

Once your case is underway, both parties and their attorneys can start negotiations. Negotiating a resolution is one way to keep the fight out of court or to limit the time you need to spend in a court room. You can resolve most issues connected to your family law matter, but if no agreement is reached, hearings and trials may be the only way to go.

Your lawyer will be able to explain the benefits of either negotiating before going to court or taking your case to trial, but the decision will be up to you. You may just need a hearing to present the terms of your agreement to a judge for their approval, or you may need a trial for the judge to see all facets of the issue at hand before a decision is reached.

The family law attorneys at the Breeden Law Office have extensive trial experience, and we’re ready to reach the resolution that gets you the best possible outcome.

Mr. Breeden was very professional. He gave me honest input regarding possible outcomes of my case. He was very responsive when I had a question and when responding to emails. He knows custody law very well and got me exactly what I wanted with regards to my case. I would definitely use him again if needed.

A custody battle is never easy; even harder when you are a grandparent seeking custody. Jonathan Breeden handled our case with great diligence, but oh so delicately. I received full, permanent custody, with no harsh feelings from any parties concerned. Together with Jonathan, there was even suitable visitation arrangements made.
