In May 2023, I attended a business conference in Charlotte, North Carolina, where one of the speakers was Richard Matthews, owner of Push Button Podcasts.
He spoke about how creating a community-based podcast was a great way to promote what is good about your community and build a base of listeners who might one day need the legal services your law office provides.
I was immediately sold on the idea as I had been thinking about starting a podcast for two years but had no idea what format or what I would talk about in an episode that came out every week.
What sold me on the idea of a community podcast was that you would never run out of interesting community members, including local elected officials, community volunteers, and small business owners, to interact with on your podcast.
It would be an easy way for these guests to get their name out on YouTube and social media as the team at Push Button Podcasts would edit and post 60-second snippets of the podcast to run each day of the week the podcast was released and tag all of the guests’ social media pages.
Thus, the Best of Johnston Podcast was born, with the first episode going live in early November 2023. We now have over 40 episodes that can be found on Apple, Spotify, LinkedIn, TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube.
We have had great guests like Johnston County Commissioner Chairman Butch Lawter, Johnston County Economic Development Director Chris Johnson, and local business leaders like Chris Key of Acera Wealth Management.
If you love Johnston County as much as I do, this is the podcast for you.
